Roots is a neighbourhood community for Indians in Canada. These guidelines apply to profiles, direct messages, rooms, plans and anything else shared through Roots.
The short version: be the neighbour you would want to meet in person.
Who Roots is for
•
Roots is for adults aged 18 and over.
•
Roots is for neighbours, friendships and shared plans. It is not a dating app.
•
Use your real identity and a current photo of yourself. Do not impersonate another person or misrepresent who you are.
Respect people and their boundaries
•
No harassment, threats, bullying, stalking, hate or discrimination.
•
No sexual advances, sexual content or repeated unwanted contact.
•
If someone does not reply, declines a plan or asks you to stop, leave them alone.
•
Do not publish another person’s address, contact details, private messages or other personal information without permission.
Keep the community genuine
•
No scams, fraud, deceptive money requests or attempts to move someone into a suspicious off-app transaction.
•
No spam, bulk outreach, unsolicited promotions or commercial recruiting.
•
No illegal activity, dangerous instructions or content that puts another person at risk.
•
Keep rooms and plans relevant to the people and purpose described.
Plans and event chats
•
Hosts must provide accurate times, places and expectations, and update or cancel a plan promptly when details change.
•
Keep event chats relevant to the shared plan. Do not use attendee access for unsolicited direct messages, promotions or pressure to meet separately.
•
Respect a no, a cancellation and anyone who leaves. Do not add guests or disclose another attendee’s location or plans without permission.
•
Members arrange their own transportation, purchases and bill-splitting. Roots does not collect or guarantee payments between members.
Reporting and enforcement
Use Report when a profile, person or message breaks these rules. A reported message is copied into the report so a Roots admin can review the relevant evidence even if the original is later removed. Reports are confidential and should be made in good faith.
Roots may remove content, limit access or suspend an account when needed to protect the community. Blocking is separate: it immediately hides you from each other across Roots. For questions about a decision, email support@myindianroots.ca.
