These Terms of Use apply when you access or use Roots. By creating an account or using Roots, you agree to these terms, the Community Guidelines and the Privacy Policy.
Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these terms. Give accurate account information, use your own identity and keep access to your sign-in account secure. You are responsible for activity through your account.
What Roots is for
Roots is a community service for meeting neighbours, making friends and organizing shared plans. It is not a dating service, an emergency service, an employment agency or a marketplace. Follow the Community Guidelines and applicable law whenever you use it.
Your content
You keep ownership of content you submit. You give Roots permission to store, process and display that content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the service. A message copied into a safety report may remain there after the original is removed; report evidence and account deletion are handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
Only share content you have the right to share. Do not upload material that infringes another person’s rights or exposes their private information without permission.
Safety and offline plans
Members decide for themselves whether to communicate or meet. Roots does not guarantee a member’s identity, conduct, background, reliability or the safety or quality of a plan. Use the precautions on the Safety page and make your own decisions before meeting or exchanging information.
Moderation
Roots may use automated checks and member reports to protect the service. We may remove content, restrict features, suspend or close accounts, or preserve relevant report evidence as described in the Privacy Policy. We may also act when needed to comply with law or address a credible safety risk.
Service changes and availability
Roots is an evolving service. Features may change, stop or be unavailable, and we cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free access. Third-party services such as sign-in, maps, hosting and media storage have their own availability and terms.
Ending use
You can delete your account from Settings. Roots may suspend or end access when these terms or the Community Guidelines are broken, when there is a safety or legal risk, or when operating the service is no longer practical.
Responsibility
To the extent permitted by law, Roots is provided as available and without guarantees beyond those that cannot legally be excluded. Roots is not responsible for conduct between members or for indirect losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that Ontario or Canadian law does not allow to be limited.
Changes and questions
If these terms change materially, Roots will update the date above and provide notice when appropriate. Ontario law and applicable Canadian federal law govern these terms. Questions can be sent to support@myindianroots.ca.
